This face wash is best for oily skin. Lemon can cut the natural oils on your face and make it easier to wash away built up dirt. Lemon face washes can also be used after removing heavy makeup to get rid of the film left by your cleanser. It is strong so rinse your face afterwards with water. This recipe makes a large quantity, and stores well in a refrigerator.
Juice of 2-3 Lemons
Hot Water
2 Tablespoons of Honey
3 Whole Cloves
First juice the lemons. Once you have strained the juice add it to a bowl. Heat the water and then add. The amount of water you wish to add is your decision. The wash should be very lemony but not enough to irritate your skin. Think of making a strong lemon tea but for your face. The honey and cloves should be added once the water and lemon is mixed together. Let it sit and cool. Use and store as soon as it has cooled.
As you probably have guessed, this is a great recipe for a tea too! I had always made it for tea and then one day I wondered how well it would work on my face. Adding a little brandy or sherry in tea for m is wonderful too. For people with very sensitive skin, decrease the amount of lemon you use. Chamomile can also be used to sooth the skin.
A Witch friend adds lemon peel to her face wash. She says that it enhances the lemon, especially with storage. I find that it makes the face wash a little harsh and bitter. Orange peel can be added instead.
